EQ8 Introduction to Electric Quilt 8
Have you ever wanted to design a quilt?
If you would like to see what EQ8 is all about then join us for an introduction to EQ8 software. EQ8 is used for the design and construction of any size quilt. Did you know you can scan and import your fabrics, print pattern pieces and calculate yardage?! This is an information session provided at no cost to you. This program is crazy fun and versatile!
EQ8 HANDS ON BASICS CLASS
Electric Quilt Version 8 for the design and construction of any size quilt. Instruction will focus on how to use the software tools provided by the EQ8 to create and construct quilts of various sizes and designs. Students, at their option, can bring a laptop running Windows 7, Windows 10 or later or Apple/Mac with the free EQ8 for Classroom installed.
NOTE FOR CURRENT EQ8 OWNERS: If you have Electric Quilt version 8 on your PC, be sure to start it while connected to the internet prior to coming to class. This will allow the software to verify your license. If you do not have the latest update, the software will offer the update. Please name Skip as your dealer.
If you cannot connect, then have Skip install the Classroom edition of EQ8 on your PC prior to class.
NOTE OWNERS OF PREVIOUS EQ VERSIONS: installing the Classroom edition of EQ8 will not interfere with your older versions operation.
FOR ALL NEW USERS: bring your laptop and download EQ8 Classroom (for PC or MAC) from the link here. If you cannot make the connection, Bring your laptop to the quilt store or Guild meeting and install from the memory stick provided. Otherwise, have Skip install the Classroom edition of Electric Quilt 8, however, you must notify Skip prior to class, and have your laptop available in the classroom at least 1 hour prior to class for software installation.

It is also recommended that you bring a notepad as note taking is encouraged and your PC will be busy. This is a very hands on class and you will be building blocks and quilts in your PC as the class progresses.
EQ8 BEYOND THE BASICS CLASS

In this Class students build more complex quilts, modify existing blocks, learn to use trace function and learn how to scan and import fabric and Photos. The Library system is also taught so students can transfer designs from one project to another and record their own stash fabrics.
Materials: Each student must have a PC or MAC running the latest operating system. Students needing to install the free classroom version of EQ8 should go to the link here. and following the instructions to download and install. Instructor will provide the activation key at the beginning of class.

How to Install Electric Quilt 8
Classroom Version
1) Copy EQ8 Classroom version to your PC

Download to your desktop or download folder and skip to step 2
If you have the software on a USB Flash Drive :
locate: \EQ8 Classroom Version for PC\Electric_Quilt_8_Setup.exe
Copy this file to the PC (Desktop or Download directory)
1) Copy EQ8 Classroom version to your Mac

Download to your desktop or download folder and skip to step 2
If you have the software on a USB Flash Drive :
locate: \EQ8 Classroom Version for MAC\Electric_Quilt_8_Setup.dmg
Copy this file to the MAC
2) Double-Click on the downloaded file and follow the on-screen installation instructions
3) The installation program will ask for:
License ID: 12345678
Password: classroom
Note: this license and password are for installation. The software will not be activated until the instructor gives you the Activation Code. This code will enable the Classroom Version for 14 days. Once the activation period has passed, the Classroom Version will become inactive, however all work that was saved will continue to be available. This installation will not effect previous version of Electric Quilt.
